Three of us at the World Championship — in Oudtshoorn Toutrek Klub colours
The Tug of War World Championship takes place on 16–19 September 2026 in Mossel Bay, South Africa. In the end we didn't get there as a full team — the Donio fundraiser fell short of its target and every contribution went back to the donors.
The championship won't be entirely without Rakovník pullers, though. Petr Popelka, Kristýna Zemanová and Jakub Kolařík were invited by the South African club Oudtshoorn Toutrek Klub, which was short of people for its squads. So they'll be pulling in its colours.
Guesting for another club is routine in tug of war, and for us it's worth its weight in gold. Three of our people get to go through a world championship first-hand, meet teams from all over the world — and bring what they learn back to training in Rakovník.
Oudtshoorn lies in the Western Cape, roughly ninety kilometres from Mossel Bay. Wish them luck.
And the promise we made when the fundraiser closed still stands: that was the last World Championship without a TOW Rakovník team in it. Later this year we face the Czech Championship classification event, which is the condition for taking part in the 2027 World Championship in Italy.
You'll find how the fundraiser ended, and how you can support us now, on our Support us page.
