What is Tug of War?
Tug of War is a strength-based team sport where two teams of eight pull on opposite ends of a rope. The goal is to pull the opposing team 4 meters. The sport is governed by the international federation TWIF. Tug of War is part of the World Games and there is great interest in bringing it back to the Olympic Games.
Club History
We are a newly founded club with big ambitions. In 2023 and 2024 we began raising awareness of the sport in Rakovník through pilot events, and in early 2026 we founded the official association. In our very first season we're already representing Rakovník on the European and world stage.

Come try it out — no matter your weight, height, or experience. Tug of War is a sport for everyone!

Join Us!
We are looking for new members — men and women of all weight categories. Tug of War is a team sport where there is a place for everyone. All you need is the will to compete and we will teach you the rest.

Our goal is to create the best conditions for our sport and bring recognition to our city both in the Czech Republic and abroad. We plan to grow our team by at least 10 new members in the coming year.

Petr Popelka
Head Coach & Co-founder
Main initiator behind the founding of the official TOW club in Rakovník, co-founder and board member. He got into the sport years ago in Prague and has competed at three World Championships in the Czech national team jersey. Actively pulls in MIX 560-600 and Men 600-700, preferring positions 4 and 7. Also serves as head coach of our team.

Adam Urban
Co-founder & Youth Coach
Co-founder and board member. He embraced this sport from the very first moment, understood its philosophy and found in it an excellent harmony with his other sport — hockey. Pulls in MIX 560-600 and Men 600-700, specializing in the anchor position. Also one of our youth coaches.
