TOW Rakovník is a tug of war club from Rakovník, Czech Republic, founded in January 2026. In its very first season it took on Europe’s best, five of its members pulled for the Czech national team at the European Championships, and it brought home silver and bronze from the national championship. It is building a youth section and takes the rope to schools and kindergartens.

TOW Rakovník is a tug of war club from Rakovník, Czech Republic. It was founded in January 2026 and today has more than fifteen members, men and women, who train three times a week. The first season moved fast. In May the club made its first start abroad, at the Bison tournament in Beltrum, the Netherlands. In July, at the European Championships in Frillesås, Sweden, it won its first pull on European soil, and five of its members competed for the Czech national team. In September three members pulled at the World Championships in South Africa for the local club Oudtshoorn Toutrek. At the Czech national championship in October the club won silver and bronze. Head coach Petr Popelka has competed at four World Championships. Two members have earned coaching licences and run the youth section, which trains every Wednesday in Rakovník. The club makes pulling boots for its juniors in the Titmouse TOW Shoes workshop, from old children’s ice skates.
